What is Tutor Couture?
Tutor Couture teaches you to create beautifully-fitted prototype garments (toiles or muslins), by draping on the stand: a pattern cutting method used by many fashion designers, particularly in couture work. We have filled a niche in the market for well-made, step-by-step, cloud-based tutorials; taught by practising fashion tutors and designers – based on a fashion school curriculum.
What will I learn?
With fashion-industry-veteran Deborah Aungiers expertly guiding you, our beginners’ series will take you through draping blocks, creating patterns, and making-up (sewing) toiles.
With 6 hours of content (divided up into 46 high definition videos), you will receive access to our four comprehensive lessons, throughout which you’ll learn to create, step-by-step, the fundamental shapes in fashion design, by draping on the stand: the basis of all tops, skirt and dress styles:
Lesson 1: Basic Bodice
Lesson 2: Strapless Bodice
Lesson 3: Skirt
Lesson 4: Dress
There is also an exciting bonus fifth part, showing examples based on what you’ve learned in the lessons, and how designers experiment with fabric on the stand.
